February’s Run Of Life series presents Running Shorts!, a celebration of locally produced short experimental documentary film. The program features award winning pieces such as WINNIE WRIGHT, AGE 11 from the Kartemquin Films Archives, a 1974 16mm short that explores gentrification and its effects on a teenage girl in Chicago’s Gage Park; and Deborah Stratton’s acclaimed HACKED CIRCUIT, a single-shot, choreographed portrait of the Foley process from the final sequence of THE CONVERSATION, revealing multiple layers of fabrication and imposition. Also screening will be Kevin B. Lee’s TRANSFORMERS: THE PREMAKE a desktop documentary about the latest installment Michael Bay’s sprawling robot movie franchise and newcomer Michelle Nahmad’s animated doc THE SHOCHET, among others.
