As the volunteer staff of the Nightingale round into our ninth year in existence, we wanted to ask our community what should happen in April 2018 when Chicago’s beloved (and possibly beleaguered) microcinema turns a decade old. We are interested in a transparent exploration of what this place has been and could be, what is needed from spaces like this in Chicago now, and the changing nature of moving image presentation. We will hold this space on our website in the upcoming year to publish thoughts from Nightingale staff, patrons, artists, and onlookers. Thank you so much for all of the support and love you have given this place for the last nine years!
Here is a link to an initial survey in which we start the conversation by putting forward three possible options.
Option 1) CLOSE DOORS
Option 2) KEEP ON AS IS
Option 3) GO FOR NON-PROFIT STATUS
